Janet Gaeke's comment about "Downtown Arcahaie Haiti 20 Apr 04"
Building little school's desks
With a small workteam I helped build new school desks for a church school in this town in the countryside.
The children were so keen to go to school that some arrived with two different shoes on their feet in order to be able to meet requirements.
The people were gracious but surprised that women were working with hammers and nails along side men!
Arcahaie Is The Birthplace Of The Haitian Flag.
On May 18, 1803, In Arcahaie, Members Of The Revolutionary Army Led By General Jean-Jacques Dessalines Ripped The White Section Out Of The French Flag And Baptized The Blue And Red Haitian Flag During The Final Months Of The Slave Rebellion.
