WEB (William Edward Burghardt) Du Bois was a first Generation Haitian-American.

WEB DuBois was born in Great Barrington, Massachusetts; his father Alfred Du Bois was Haitian.

WEB DuBois was an American civil rights activist, Pan-Africanist, sociologist, historian, author, and editor.

WEB DuBois earned a degree from Fisk University, a historically black college in Nashville, Tennessee.

WEB DuBois entered Harvard College (one of the two undergraduate sections of Harvard University) in the fall of 1888 on a scholarship.

WEB DuBois earned a bachelor's degree cum laude from Harvard in 1890.

WEB DuBois was also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, the nation's first Intercollegiate fraternity for African American men.

WEB Du Bois became the first African American to earn a Ph.D. from Harvard University
