Here is some info about Beyonce, her Creole heritage, and her link to Haiti from Answers.com

Beyonce's parents decided on her first name as a tribute to her mother's maiden name.

Beyonce's maternal grandparents, Lumis Albert Beyince and Agnez Dereon, were French-speaking Louisiana Creoles who are also from Haiti.

Her mother born here did not learn creole and did not teach it to Beyonce, a lot of people do that to their kids.

In the 60s Beyonce's grandmother did not think it was cool to teach her daughter creole since it was not cool to be associated with Haitian back then.
